About Us

Our original name was the Brookfield-Elm Grove Chamber of Commerce. In 1966 the name was changed to the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce, and in 1989 we became the Greater Brookfield Chamber of Commerce.  The “Greater” is to represent a wider geographical area we now represent. Today, the businesses that invest in the Chamber range from Mayville to Racine and Madison to Milwaukee. Back in 1957, business was much more local, and the chamber’s focus therefore was more local as well.  What hasn’t changed in all these years is our unwavering commitment and support to the business community.

As with most chambers, we operate under four main pillars, but we actually have five at the GBCC. The four that are most common include:
Networking – We provide quality networking opportunities for business leaders to meet other leaders, grow their networks and in turn grow their business.
Business Education programming – When we hear from our investors, they are seeking additional education and resources, we respond. Two of our most recent additions are our Leadership Academy (very different than a traditional chamber leadership program) and our Early Career Mentorship Program.
Advocacy – We serve as the collective voice of the businesses that make an investment in the chamber by advocating on behalf of business-friendly policy and legislation. While we do not support or align with a political party, nor endorse any political candidates, we do advocate on behalf of our collective investors.
Economic Development – We support quality economic development initiatives in our region. These initiatives make our communities stronger for everyone. A recent addition to this initiative is our Taking It To The Streets Tuesday social media campaign that focuses on new and expanding businesses in our region.

These four pillars have been in our wheelhouse since our inception back in 1957. NEW to our core pillars is the addition of our support to the nonprofit community through our Nonprofit Network group.

As you can see, while remaining true to our founding principles, we have also grown to support a new and ever-changing way of doing business. What once was hyper local, is now regional and global. We continue to work to meet the needs of those businesses that look to us to be a resource for their future growth.
